Young composer writes new work for Prinsjesdag

At the request of the States General, Irish composer Franki Dodwell (31) has written a composition especially for the United Assembly at Prinsjesdag. 'Parade' will be performed by the brass quintet of the Residentie Orkest during the King's departure after the speech from the throne.

A new grand piano as an anniversary gift!

In November 2024, Residentie Orkest will celebrate its 120th anniversary. This festive anniversary will be used as an opportunity for all Friends to give a special gift to the orchestra: a new grand piano. But why is a new grand piano needed? Getting started with Discover the Orchestra

Last weeks, all teachers from the schools entering our Discover the Orchestra curriculum this year literally had to "get to work"! They attended a hands-on workshop to experience what their students will be experiencing in the coming years, and each of them conducted a piece of Carmen's Overture and rehearsed various play-along parts.

Review of South Park summer concert

Neighborhood residents and lovers of music gathered Sunday evening, September 1, in a completely sold-out Zuiderpark Theater for the traditional Zuiderpark Summer Concert of the Residentie Orkest. An enthusiastic audience enjoyed the finest music by Dvořák and Tchaikovsky, among others, conducted by young British conductor Kerem Hasan. A retrospective!

Reissue: Mahler 2 by Hans Vonk

Hans Vonk (1942-2004) was one of the most prominent Dutch conductors of the twentieth century and between 1980 and 1991 chief conductor of the Residentie Orkest. Brilliant Classics brings a CD reissue of Mahler's monumental Auferstehungs Symphony performed by the Residentie Orkest under the baton of Hans Vonk: an absolute must-have!
