On Saturday May 31, top violinist Shunske Sato returns to the Residentie Orkest with Viennese classics by Haydn and Beethoven. Surprisingly: he is also a conductor! "I'm actually concertmaster and conductor in one. It's my best way of communicating, to make the music myself."

One Minute Symphony - Thomas Wenas

Composition student Thomas Wenas wrote the Last One Minute Symphony of season 2024/2025. As a subject he chose the bombing of the Bezuidenhout district of The Hague, now eighty years ago. On Friday May 23, the premiere will be heard in Amare.

Agnes Houtsmuller to retire

This week, first violinist Agnes Houtsmuller plays her Last Concerts with the Residentie Orkest. For nearly forty years, a third of the orchestra's age, she played with them. "You know the moment will come one day, but still I will miss the orchestra, the colleagues, making music together and especially the music very much."

When conductor Jun Märkl isn't exploring the Alaskan wilderness in his camper van, you'll find him on the staff of the world's best-known orchestras. This summer he joins as chief conductor of the Residentie Orkest, of which he has been a regular guest conductor since 2021.

Performance Notes, Beats & Bars at Hague Children's Music Day

Saturday Saturday April 5, marked the debut performance of the fourth edition of Notes, Beats & Bars at the Hague Children's Music Day at the Atrium Cityhall. Musicians from the Residentie Orkest performed with rappers from the Hague Hiphop Center H3C.
