Review of musical evening in Juliana Plaza

On Nov. 20, Residentie Orkest celebrated a special anniversary with over 120 relations at the Juliana Plaza in The Hague, one of the orchestra's social partners. A festive and varied evening presented by none other than Christiaan Kuyvenhoven. Four music teachers who teach students weekly at various schools in The Hague from the Residentie Orkest opened the program musically. The entire woodwind section of the Residentie Orkest played several movements from Mozart's Gran Partita, KV 361.

General and Artistic Director Sven Arne Tepl and Chairman of the Supervisory Board Henk Breukink both looked back on the unique history and strength of the current Residentie Orkest. Atalay Celenk (Director Juliana Plaza) and Ruth van de Putte (Head of Education) talked about the social and educational projects and the impact of these projects in the various neighborhoods in The Hague.

Two days later, Mayor Jan van Zanen congratulated the Residentie Orkest prior to the concert at Amare. Also officially inaugurated was the new grand piano which was offered as an anniversary gift by the Friends of the Residentie Orkest Association made possible in part thanks to many additional donations from Friends and supporters.

Photographer Sandra Uittenbogaart made the following photo report.

"The RO coming to the city was so palpable. Because of the location, right in the middle of Transvaal. There was a warm atmosphere, enhanced by the delicious food. I came across a photo of my father earlier that day of the RO's 50th anniversary! 70 years ago! That made me feel that the RO is also a bit of family."

"What a wonderful birthday this was! Especially when Mozart is performed by the Residentie Orkest in a unique place in the city."

- Peter Arensman, member of Club RO
