Winter dreams in the neighborhood

Music, stories and meal

"From sparkling lights to dark shadows, from warm feelings to chilly loneliness. From first winters in a new land to fond memories of winters past"

- Winter Dreams

The Residentie Orkest aims to introduce all residents of The Hague to music, inspire them and connect them with each other. With the Symphony 2030 project "Winter Dreams," the orchestra is going into various districts of The Hague to ask local residents to tell their stories and memories of winter amidst the music.

The project is linked to the programming of the Residentie Orkest, they will play Tchaikovsky's Symphony No. 1 'Winter Dreams' in December at the Concert Hall of Amare (concerts on December 20 and 22). In this symphony, winter is the metaphor for life. It is a work full of contrasts, from sparkling lights to dark shadows, from warm feelings to chilly loneliness. This theme of winter is also the basis for the winter stories told by neighborhood residents from different districts of The Hague. The storytellers will be accompanied by Haags Verhaal. An ensemble from the Residentie Orkest will play a number of winter works by Tchaikovsky and others in between the various stories.

For this project we work together with several partners: Haags Verhaal, Vadercentrum Adam, Participatiekeuken Moerwijk, Stichting Lichtpuntjes van Mariahoeve, Bibliotheek Den Haag, Taal aan Zee.

With thanks to: Fund 1818, Fund RO and VVRO.

The concerts are on Dec. 10, 12, 19 and 20. Check out our What's on for more information!
