The Residentie Orkest and the power of the One Minute Symphony

For eight years, many Friday night concerts have been preceded by the One Minute Symphony. "What I really like about this," explains composer Karmit Fadael, "is that it has really opened doors with me into the orchestral world."

When she steps into Amare s Concert Hall , she feels small for a moment among all the people. "Very cozy," she says later. "There were so many people, wonderful to see." The lights dim, the first sounds fill the room - and then it happens: "I got tears in my eyes. So beautiful to hear. You settle down spiritually."

In conversation with two generations of Residentie Orkest harpists

Playing the harp in an orchestra: a versatile but also demanding task. Mathilde Wauters and Štefica Žužek know all about it. Whereas Wauters has been the Residentie Orkest 's current harpist since 2022, former harpist Žužek took early retirement in 2000 after 34 years.
