Hip-hop meets classical in a special collaboration

Symphonic Junction: Hef × RO

On June 7, Hef joined forces with the Residentie Orkest for a unique Symphonic Junction: a spectacular evening at PAARD featuring orchestral performances of his greatest hits, led by conductor Leonard Evers.

The evening opened with our social talent development program Notes, Beats & Bars, in collaboration with the Hague Hiphop Center (H3C/Foundation Aight). At this edition youngsters (in collaboration with Stichting 2Gather) participated in a six-month program in which they were introduced to hip hop, spoken word, beats ánd classical music, including lessons in percussion, trumpet and trombone.

Crossovers between hip-hop and classical took place on stage, supported by breakdancers to music by Rameau and Shostakovich. Separate from this program, 11-year-old talent Jayce Musiq warmed up the audience with his new single Good Vibes.

Hef then entered the stage and completely fired up the audience with his powerful performance of his greatest classics.

A raucous evening full of energy and passion for hip-hop and classical music! 🔥 Enjoy after with these photos of Parcifal Werkman.

Thank you to VSBfonds, Keep an Eye Foundation and Fonds Residentie Orkest who made the Notes, Beats & Bars project possible.

About Hef

Bundy, Heffelini or just Hef, who doesn't know him? As one of the founding fathers of Dutch hip-hop, he is a fixture and is never left out of the conversation about who the real GOAT is. With classics like Hef Power, Paperwork, Cold and Goat , he still remains as active as in the days of Puur.
