Notes, Beats & Bars

Notes, Beats & Bars is a project that brings hip-hop and classical music together through workshops, performances and a big concert. Celebrating its fifth edition in 2025, the project targets young people from different neighborhoods of The Hague.

The project offers young people an opportunity to discover and develop their talents in classical music, hip-hop and breakdance. It promotes cooperation between the Hague Hiphop Center and Residentie Orkest and provides young people with opportunities for talent development and meeting.

From January to June 2025, weekly workshops are organized for about 25 young people (ages 14-25) from neighborhoods such as Schilderswijk, the Stationsbuurt and The Hague Southwest. They will learn to rap, make beats, breakdance and get acquainted with classical music and conducting. The highlight is the Symphonic Junction Concert at Het Paard, where young people can perform. The project aims to build lasting relationships and hopes to engage more young people each year. In addition, a special program is offered to 100 nursing students from The Hague University of Applied Sciences in cooperation with Buddy Network.
