'It's great to experience how music brings people together'

When Jane Sum returned to The Hague after sixteen years abroad, she knew one thing for sure: she wanted to fully enjoy art and culture again. A free lunch concert by the Residentie Orkest made such an impression that she decided to become a Friend. 'The concert was so beautiful that I immediately introduced my sister. Now we are both Friends!

Looking back on Christmas with the Residentie Orkest

Last weekend, just before Christmas, the Residentie Orkest played two concerts full of delightful music by Svendsen, Rachmaninov and Tchaikovsky. "Residentie Orkest in great form," according to The New Muse. A retrospective!

The most beautiful carols & carols

We celebrate the most wonderful time of the year with beautiful carols and carols performed by RO Brass. We fill the entire month of December with heartwarming Christmas videos recorded at the Nieuwe Kerk.

Review of Mahler 5

On Friday Dec. 13 and Sunday Dec. 15, Simone Lamsma performed Bruch's unsurpassed Violin Concerto No. 1 and Mahler's Fifth Symphony in an almost sold-out Amare . An experience!

Conducting project 2024

At the end of November 2024 it was party time at the Residentie Orkest. On the program was the final concert of the Conducting Project of Discover the Orchestra. As many as fourteen young conductors showed what they had in their conducting march.

Friendship through the years

Looking back on 120 years Residentie Orkest

Last weekend the Residentie Orkest celebrated its 120th anniversary with two nearly sold-out concerts at Amare. Offering the new Steinway-grand piano completed the celebration! A retrospective.

A new tune for the Residentie Orkest by composer Amarante Nat

The talented composer Amarante Nat was asked by the Residentie Orkest to write a "tune" in honor of the orchestra's 120th anniversary. We were looking for a composition that embodies the character of the orchestra and encompasses the essence of over 300 years of symphonic music. The difficult task, but we are incredibly pleased with the result!

'Culture has always given us great pleasure and inspiration and I like to pass that on'

Lex Sip, an architect, has been attending the Residentie Orkest since he was a teenager . 'Over half a century of concert attendance, that creates a bond. That's why I started talking about bequeathing to the orchestra and the possibility of a named fund. That way, when I'm alive, I can do something for the orchestra that has always given and continues to give us so much.'

Review of musical evening in Juliana Plaza

On Wednesday evening, November 20, we celebrated the 120th anniversary of the Residentie Orkest with Club RO members, our corporate and private donors, funds, community partners and many others who are of great value to the orchestra. A fantastic musical evening in the Juliana Plaza where we reflected on the history and future of the orchestra.
