On Wednesday, January 19, the hips went wild at Amare. Amare was temporarily transformed into Amare Gym! With this we participated in the national action to draw attention to the dire situation in the cultural sector.

Violinist Justyna Briefjes: you've probably seen her many times, sitting prominently next to the Principal of second violins. That is now a thing of the past, because recently Justyna herself became Principal.

"I feel like I'm writing the Requiem for myself."

One takes a mysterious patron, a composer who meets his end far too soon and a mysterious completion. Voilà, these are the exciting ingredients for what would become one of Mozart's most famous works: his Requiem.

Jun Märkl, explorer in music

His appointment as permanent guest conductor seals years of cooperation with the Residentie Orkest. German Jun Märkl will be in The Hague more often from the summer of 2021. "This role gives more depth to our relationship.

During the world-renowned Cello Biennale, we will play the world premiere of Martijn Padding's Cello Concerto "Swift, Grey and Spacious" on Saturday, Oct. 22.

Light in dark days

As the days get colder and darker faster, music complements this by warming and illuminating. It brings us together at Amare or the Nieuwe Kerk. On Nov. 3, we played the Diwali-concert, a special concert with music as the connecting factor.
