Zuiderpark Summer Concert

'This evening represents music and connection'

On Saturday August 23, local residents and music lovers will gather at the beautiful Zuiderpark Theater for the annual Zuiderpark Summer Concert by the Residentie Orkest. This time led by our chief conductor Jun Märkl. The concert will feature Saint-Saëns' powerful Marche héroïque and the playful, haunting sounds of his Danse macabre, followed by Tchaikovsky's enchanting Swan Lake.

The annual Zuiderparkzomerconcert is more than a classical concert: it is a time when music connects fellow city dwellers, brings enjoyment, can alleviate loneliness and provides a space for inspiration. In fact, the Zuiderpark Summer Concert is part of Symphony 2030, the social branch of the Residentie Orkest. From Symphony 2030, some 500 social seats have been distributed to social partners, such as Buddy Network, Open your heart/Mantel Circle, Taal aan Zee, Vadercentrum Adam, Haags Verhaal, Buurt & Shalom - STEK, Quiet Den Haag and Participatiekeuken Moerwijk with a special focus on residents of The Hague South-West. With this program, the Residentie Orkest wants to reach residents of all ages and backgrounds and lower the threshold to experience live classical music. This creates a special occasion where people come together and feel connected by the power and beauty of music.

"It is so important that we make our concerts accessible to everyone in The Hague and especially to residents for whom it is not so obvious or easy to come to a concert. The music on these evenings can bring joy or combat loneliness for some and give inspiration or ease a situation for others. But the most beautiful thing is still the connection of all visitors who enjoy the beautiful music of the Residentie Orkest together."
