Review of Shostakovich 8

With Antony Hermus & Gary Hoffman

Renowned Dutch conductor Antony Hermus was back at Residentie Orkest on Nov. 8 and provided a memorable evening in a nearly sold-out Concert Hall in Amare. Hermus conducted Joey Roukens' Night Flight , Shostakovich's Eighth Symphony and Bloch' s Schelomo with cellist Gary Hoffman filling in for Mischa Maisky.

"Relentless Residentie Orkest packs Amare ," according to the Volkskrant , and "the stunningly good playing of substitute Gary Hoffman and the storytelling power of conductor Antony Hermus made for a memorable evening in The Hague." Enjoy some more with these photos, taken by Eduardus Lee.
