Vera (18) made a spoken word about racism. She finds it bizarre that in 2021 people are still seen as inferior because of their skin color and background. But also that people still make remarks like: I don't see color. That shows little awareness of the problem.

Alicia (21) has been battling eating disorders since she was 13 years old. Something that for years was not taken seriously by her family doctor, because she did not fit into "the picture. With her song "Do You Hear Me?" she wants to make people more aware that there are various eating disorders and that they do not all paint the same picture.

Hacer (17) has lived all her life in Transvaal, a Hague neighborhood with its challenges. She is angered by the amount of dirt on the streets, the sense of insecurity and the lack of respect for each other. With her spoken word, she wants to open the eyes of young people and their parents.

Myrthe (20) gets angry about catcalling, street harassment and the fact that as a woman you should always think about your safety. The title of her song "I'll app you when I'm home" is familiar to every woman, but is far from the mind of many men. Myrthe wants to empower women and wake up men.

"This provides the opportunity and freedom to strengthen our bond."

For years, top violinist Simone Lamsma has been delighting listeners worldwide with her Stradivarius. We are proud that next season she will be our guest at Residentie Orkest, Royal Conservatoire The Hague and Amare as artist in residence. Plenty of reason for a good conversation with the 'Dutch sensation'.

A new chief conductor and new accommodation in the heart of The Hague usher in the 2021/2022 season like a pause. General & artistic director Sven Arne Tepl: 'In this eventful period, this gives an enormous boost!'

"With these new timpani, the possibilities are endless."

Thanks to a donation from the Stichting Instrumenten Fonds, we were able to expand our instrumentation with a set of new timpani. These are specifically for music from the Baroque to early Romantic periods.

Our jubilee concertmaster

Leo has been a violinist in the Residentie Orkest for 25 years, 17 of which as concertmaster. That is why we put him full in the spotlight. For the first time, Leo talks about his childhood in Romania, his career as a violinist and the special way he came into our orchestra.

The Concert Hall is located on the second floor and is the largest room in Amare. This is the hall where the Residentie Orkest can shine.

Alexandra Bons

Russian-born violinist Alexandra (call sign: Sasha) Bons became a proud member of our orchestra in 2015. Originally playing in the second violins, she recently successfully auditioned for a spot in the first violin group. Why did she want to make that switch? And what once brought her from faraway Russia to the Netherlands? Sasha is happy to tell you her story.

Farewell to Nicholas Collon & South Beach Theatre

At the end of the 2020/2021 season, we bid farewell to both the South Beach Theatre and our chief conductor Nicholas Collon.
