Review of An American Dream

With Karen Gomyo and Andrew Grams

Masterpieces from two worlds: Mendelssohn's world-famous Violin Concerto with the extraordinary soloist Karen Gomyo and the Third Symphony by American composer Florence Price, performed for the first time in The Hague. This work reflects a unique fusion of European symphonic traditions versus African-American influences: spirituals, blues, rhythm. Also heard was Gershwin's energetic An American in Paris. The Residentie Orkest was conducted by the charismatic American conductor Andrew Grams.

The Residentie Orkest also played this program in the AVROTROS Friday Concert with soloist Bomsori Kim.
