"I have known the friends of the orchestra longer than the orchestra itself: my parents have been friends for years, since well before I myself first played with the orchestra. Very special that so many enthusiastic fans are so involved with the orchestra, a beautiful mutual friendship."
- Jasper Grijpink, clarinet

Friends make impact
Each year the Friends support various projects of the Residentie Orkest. We are proud to make so many multi-faceted projects possible. Read more about past projects supported here.
Thanks in part to support from the Friends, the Residentie Orkest has been able to perform several Apple Pie Concerts in 2018 and 2019. An initiative of Stichting Appeltaartconcerten, in which ensembles perform concerts in an elderly home, nursing home or institution.
A horn is not a violin: whereas a violin only gets more beautiful as it ages, the exact opposite happens with a horn. To do justice to the quality of our horn group, the Residentie Orkest therefore wanted to invest in new horns. Thanks to a successful crowdfunding campaign, the Society of Friends was able to contribute €35,238.58 to the purchase of five brand new horns. An investment enjoyed by both musicians and concertgoers!
The Society of Friends has made it possible to invest in the series "Chamber Music in the Nieuwe Kerk'. Musicians from the Residentie Orkest put together their own program and talked about their choices during the concert. Regularly unknown and Dutch works were on the lectern. The Society has structurally supported this series for more than 10 years.
The Residentie Orkest has a wonderful partnership with Broadcasting West. Every last Sunday morning of the month (excluding the summer months) a concert of the Residentie Orkest is broadcast on TV. This proves to be a huge success: on average between 15,000 and 20,000 people watch this broadcast. Thanks to the support of the Friends, these broadcasts are made possible.
