A Look Back at the First Blazers and Percussion Day
June 6, 2026, in Amare
What a celebration the first Wind and Percussion Day organized by the Residentie Orkest JongKC in Amare June 6 was!
More than eighty participants traveled to Amare from four provinces Amare take part in engaging workshops led by twelve orchestra musicians and conservatory teachers on topics including breath support, intonation, posture, rhythm, effective practice, reed cutting, and conducting. In addition, various ad hoc ensembles rehearsed musical pieces, which were performed in the afternoon in the beautiful Conservatory Hall before a large audience.
For years now, musical community life and the recruitment of Dutch musicians at conservatories have been struggling, which is why the Residentie Orkest JongKC have joined forces. And everyone who was present on June 6 felt a glimmer of hope once again, because what could be better than making music (and having fun) together—young and old, amateur and professional—on stage?
Next season will bring even more Cultural Participation projects, including a String Day, The Hague’s Sing-Along Messiah, the Amateur Arts Festival, and a full-scale Symphonic Mob at The Hague City Hall, where hundreds of amateur musicians will perform alongside the Residentie Orkest.
Relive the moment with Hans Poel’s photos.
