Residentie Orkest will take Beethoven 9 into The Hague's neighbourhoods in May

Beethoven's Ninth Symphony – with the message Alle Menschen werden Brüder – was premiered two hundred years ago. It Residentie Orkest celebrates that anniversary not only with grand performances on 24 and 26 May in Amare, but also with various musical activities in May in The Hague's neighbourhoods.

It Residentie Orkest The Hague believes that the power of music is tangible and accessible to everyone, from young to old. Also for people who can't afford a ticket for concerts in Amare. Based on this conviction, the orchestra initiates with RO in the city activities in the neighbourhoods of The Hague or participates in them. Beethoven's Ninth , with its final piece, Alle Menschen werden Brüder , is the musical translation par excellence of 'Together for a more beautiful The Hague'. It Residentie Orkest intervenes in the period in the run-up to the concerts on 24 and 26 May Amare together with social partners such as Buddy Network, CultuurSchakel and PEP, to spread this message in The Hague. After all, music has the power to connect.

Saturday 11 May: Volunteer market & pop-ups

On the initiative of the Residentie Orkest For the first time, PEP The Hague is organising an extensive Volunteer Market, in which CultuurSchakel and Open Amare are affiliated as partners. Under the motto 'Together for a more beautiful The Hague', residents of The Hague are brought into contact with organisations that are looking for volunteers and new members for amateur music groups. These companies also provide some performances. Four horn players of the Residentie Orkest together with singers from four amateur choirs will open at 13:00 in the Volunteer Market Amare with Beethoven 9. From 14:00 to 15:00, the four horn players will tour the city in a tuk-tuk and give pop-up performances on the tower of Theater de Vaillant and at the statue of Harry from The Hague.

Monday 20 May: Carillon Concert+

During a city walk by Buddy Netwerk and the Residentie Orkest through the centre of The Hague, city carillonneur Gijsbert Kok will play excerpts from Beethoven's Ninth Symphony in the Grote Kerk. There is a sign with a QR code at the church. By clicking on it you can see the carillonneur play live and you will see a video on which Wouter Iseger, bass trombonist of the Residentie Orkest, and Gijsbert Kok talk about Beethoven's Ninth and the translation of the symphony to the carillon.

The start and end point is in front of the Grote of Sint Jacobskerk in The Hague. Between 11:00 and 14:00 you can start the walk and walk independently. Between 12:00 and 13:00 Gijsbert Kok, city carillonneur of The Hague, will play on the carillon of the Grote Kerk.

Friday 24 May: Surprise
