Review of Beethoven 9

'Alle Menschen werden BrĂ¼der'

On Friday, May 24 and Sunday, May 26, one of Beethoven's most famous works sounded in a packed Amare : his Ninth Symphony. A colossal piece of music with a universal, topical message of peace and harmony, still!

The Residentie Orkest led by regular guest conductor Richard Egarr, an extraordinary quartet of soloists with soprano Ilse Eerens, mezzo-soprano Barbara Kozelj, tenor Joel Williams and bass Andreas Wolf and the fantastic choir Laurens Symfonisch performed Beethoven's monument to humanity in a penetrating way. The evening was introduced with the One Minute Symphony "PseudOde" by Nikos Galenianos.
