Ravel, Haydn & Strauss
Valentine's Concert
This concert is part of the Symphonic Friday - Large series.
This Valentine's evening, join the Residentie Orkest for a celebration of love! Ravel and Richard Strauss offer a rich palette of romantic emotion, perfect for enjoying together with your loved one. Tonight, you will hear these musical maestros' magnificent interpretations of the waltz. Each note flirts and resonates with the listener's emotions. The renowned cellist Jean-Guihen Queyras will also treat us to one of the most beautiful and famous cello concertos there is.
Surprise your Valentine with an evening filled with deeply romantic music, conducted by Anja Bihlmaier. We'll add an extra touch of grandeur to the evening with an expanded ensemble. Let yourself be swept off your feet by the passionate dance of Ravel's Valses nobles et sentimentales, the moving string parts of Haydn's Cello Concerto in D, and the love adventures in Strauss's Der Rosenkavalier. This popular opera was such a success at its premiere that the composer put together an orchestral suite featuring its highlights. We'll conclude the evening with Ravel's passionate La Valse, a musical love letter that will make your heart beat faster.

"The first collaboration between our chief conductor Anja Bihlmaier and Jean-Guihen Queyras in 2023 was very special and I am very much looking forward to this concert with Haydn's unsurpassed Cello Concerto in D."
