Mike Boddé
From 7 p.m. to 7:30 p.m ., multi-talented Mike Boddé will show how many different ways the 12 notes can be interpreted. In a dazzling interactive supporting act, he will demonstrate the consequences of certain musical choices. Take a seat on the grandstand steps in the central hall of Amare, join in and be surprised!
Mike Boddé (Rotterdam, 1968) is a musician and theater maker. After his grammar school he left for the United States where he studied jazz piano for a year. After his return he studied Chinese in Leiden, which he completed in 1995. With fellow student Thomas van Luyn he formed the duo Mike & Thomas in 1991. With him he entered the theater. Boddé made a total of twenty-five theater programs with van Luyn, but also with Kees Torn, Klaas van der Eerden, Onno Innemee, Hadewych Minis, Beatrice van der Poel, Jelka van Houten and others. On TV Boddé gained fame as one of the comedians of the popular Kopspijkers. With Thomas van Luyn he then made the cult hit "The Mike and Thomas Show. He also wrote the bestseller Pil, and then four more books, and made numerous CDs, all of which failed to sell. Fortunately, he was able to express himself in the popular TV program Podium Witteman. In it he played the piano and gave small lectures on various musical subjects. Furthermore, his hobby is making tasty Chinese chicken dishes, and pastas that are usually inedible. As a musician, he has broad interests. He likes classical, pop and jazz; in fact, he likes just about all kinds of music. In any case, he has a definite fondness for improvising, in whatever genre that may be. In this skill he also teaches at the Utrecht Conservatory, and during private lessons from home. Furthermore, he tries to devote himself to the subject of mental health, in order to contribute to removing the taboos that still surround this topic. He himself suffered from severe depression for many years, so he knows only too well what it is like to be completely depressed. Nowadays, fortunately, he is doing very well, since he has a probative medication that keeps him stable.
5 book tips from Paagman that teach us more about making choices
Master class by conductor Andrew Grams
At the beginning of the concert, conductor Andrew Grams and baritone Manuel Walser will take you through the choices the composers made, as well as those they themselves made in interpreting this beautiful music. A unique glimpse into the lives of these greats.
Mahler & Franck
Heartbreak runs like a thread through Mahler's Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen, which he wrote as a young twenty-something in Vienna. The traveling man sings of all aspects of a broken heart, and Mahler perfectly captures all the emotions in irresistible melodies. Songs full of heartbreak, sensitively sung by award-winning baritone Manuel Walser. American guest conductor Andrew Grams, an absolute audience favorite, returns to the orchestra. He brings with him César Franck's masterpiece: his romantic Symphony in d.
