Friday 03 November
Amare Concert Hall, The Hague
From €20
Conductor: Ruth Reinhardt
Piano: Denis Kozhukhin
Unfortunately, this concert has already taken place. But not to worry! We will be playing many more concerts soon.

This RO NOW is going to be very special. Together we will search for the essence of beauty. Aesthetics, art, kitsch, personal taste, inspiration. It's all covered.

Mendelssohn and Rachmaninov, too, in their never-ending search for the most beautiful, were inspired by what they saw as beauty. In this case, the rich culture and music and beautiful scenery of Italy! And so they came to new beauty, as evidenced by the fantastic music that we are going to listen to this evening.

This evening is a unique opportunity. Not only because of all the beautiful things we are going to hear, but also because we challenge you to philosophize about the concept of 'beauty' together during the Beauty Talk together with three experts: Suzanne Swarts (director of Museum Voorlinden), Robert Schoemacher (cosmetic doctor) and Monique Roelofs (professor of philosophy of art and culture). An evening that will hopefully bring us new knowledge, insights and inspiration!

Rachmaninov & Mendelssohn

Since master pianist Denis Kozhukhin won the prestigious Elisabeth Competition in 2010, he has been a whirlwind through the world. Wherever and whatever he plays, the crowd is delirious. As recently as 2022, he enchanted Amare with his performance of Rachmaninov's Second Piano Concerto . Now he returns to The Hague with Rachmaninov, his Rhapsody on a theme by Paganini, definitely one of his best works. You can hear Italian passion and drama like never before, especially in Mendelssohn's sunny Italian symphony . Leading the way in the trip through Italy is the German conductor Ruth Reinhardt, a controversial new face on the international stage. She has already performed with important orchestras worldwide and is now with us for the first time.

"Listening to Kozhukhin, you're left with one thing: the music – incontestable, complete"

- Gramophone Magazine

During a short and powerful concert, you will be introduced to masterpieces and give your weekend a special twist. Each edition, the conductor will briefly tell you more about the music, illustrated with examples by the orchestra. After the concert, you're welcome to hang out in the foyer where the beers will be cold. First drink is on us!
