Do you know that feeling, where your talents go unnoticed alongside the great achievements of others? That’s how Fanny Mendelssohn and Nannerl Mozart feel all too often! They composed music just as brilliant as that of their famous brothers, but never received the attention they deserved. That’s about to change—in the sparkling concertFanny & Nannerl Take Over!, the Residentie Orkest brings Residentie Orkest music to life.

In this captivating performance, image and sound merge, and you’ll discover just how powerful the compositions of the female Mozarts and Mendelssohns are. Together with actors and live video footage, Nannerl and Fanny immerse you in rousing rhythms, brilliant melodies, and surprising stories. The audience is invited to clap, sing, and sway along, making it an unforgettable experience for young and old alike. This isn’t just any concert; it’s a festive rediscovery of two brilliant women who are finally getting the spotlight they deserve. Workshop & Instrument Garden

Before the concert, you can join a fun workshop for free to practice the sing-along songs from the concert. The workshop runs from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m., and you can join at any time. Want to practice at home beforehand? You can! Go to the special websiteand click on ‘Join the performance’.

Are you curious about musical instruments? Come discover how much fun it is to blow, strum, and drum along with the orchestra’s musicians. The Instrument Garden open after the performance.

Featuring compositions byGeorges Bizet, Lili Boulanger, Gustav Mahler, Fanny Mendelssohn, Felix Mendelssohn, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Jacobo Palm (arranged by Jesse Passenier), and Florence Price.

This performance is a co-production of the Dutch orchestras: Phion, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, Residentie Orkest, Netherlands Philharmonic Orchestra, North Netherlands Orchestra, Philzuid, and the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, in collaboration with Theater Sonnevanck, Theatergroep De Horde, and the Royal Concertgebouw.
