Winter concert at Muzee

On Saturday , February Saturday , a special concert took place in the Scheveningenzaal at Muzee. Professionals from the Residentie Orkest young amateurs treated the audience to a varied program.

Children from The Residents of Queen Beatrix School in the Schilderswijk neighborhood kicked off the concert. Led by conductor Emiel Semmekrot, they performed two songs. With concentrated expressions on their faces, the flute, clarinet, and cello students showed off what they had been practicing recently.

Next up was a quartet from the Residentie Orkest. Pieter Verschuijl, Remus Rimbu, Moira Bette, and Iedje van Wees took the audience on a journey through swans, waves, and a festive boat parade with a repertoire of Tchaikovsky, Suk, Saint-Saƫns, and Handel. The music perfectly complemented the paintings in the Scheveningen Room.

The children's theater choir De Zeesterren from Scheveningen then performed several cheerful songs, encouraging the audience to join in with the singing. The choir is part of the Zingverhalenkoren (Singing Story Choirs) led by conductor Monique Harteveld, who writes all the songs performed by the choirs herself. The children of The Residents sang softly along in the background, creating an extra-large choir of children's voices in some of the choruses.

The grand finale was a joint performance of Monique's song Ga je mee naar de zee(Are you coming to the sea), which was specially rearranged for this ensemble by Marijn van Prooijen. Children, musicians, and audience then cheerfully stepped out into sunny Scheveningen.
