The Residents Academy Closing Concert

On Tuesday, July 3 - just before the Netherlands-Romania soccer match - The Residents Academy gave the final concert of this season in Amare.

The Residents Academy is part of the larger project The Residents of the Residentie Orkest. In this learning orchestra project, elementary school pupils from vulnerable neighborhoods in The Hague receive weekly lessons on an instrument and regularly play together in an orchestra. Pupils who want to continue with us after elementary school (and elementary school pupils who want and are able to do more) can attend The Residents Academy. This rehearses every week on Tuesday afternoons at Amare. There are three groups in The Academy: woodwind, brass and strings.

At the concert last Tuesday, the groups (and sometimes even students) played separately and together. A feast for all present to see and hear how these students have grown over the past year!
