A Look Back at RO NOW: Symphonic Waltzes

Last weekend, Amare was Amare the Viennese waltz. The Residentie Orkest our principal conductor Jun Märkl, performed pieces including *An der schönen blauen Donau*—perhaps Johann Strauss Jr.’s most famous waltz—and, for the first time, *Schlagobers* by Richard Strauss: a rarely performed ballet, but undoubtedly a cheerful and charming masterpiece. The event was hosted by Christiaan Kuyvenhoven. Prior to the “Symphonic Waltzes” concert, there were short workshops led by the Wesseling Dance School from The Hague, where the basics of the Viennese waltz were put into practice right away. Afterward, everyone could enjoy a drink or keep waltzing for a while longer.
