Last Friday in a sold-out Amare we celebrated the New Year's Concert with festive music by Giuseppe Verdi, Giacomo Puccini, Richard Strauss and Johann Strauss. Italian passion combined with drama, delicacy and festive Viennese polka-dot fireworks. The Residentie Orkest was conducted by Leslie Suganandarajah while one of the finest dramatic opera voices had come over from England: soprano Claire Rutter. The presentation was in the hands of Sander Zwiep.
