Review of Close to Classics
At the end of January, our special series of concerts, Close to Classics, took place. Visitors sat literally among our musicians and experienced the overwhelming sounds of a spectacular musical program from the inside: from the dramatic opening of Mozart's Don Giovanni to Mendelssohn's dreamy Nocturne and an energetic movement from Beethoven's Fourth Symphony. The program also included Max Richter's subdued On the Nature of Daylight and One Minute Symphony XL by the young Dutch composer Thijmen Krijgsman, written especially for this setting. The concerts were conducted by our emerging artist in residence Chloe Rooke.
