On Friday Oct. 3Amare, The Hague) and Saturday Oct. 4 (De Harmonie, Leeuwarden), the Residentie Orkest took to the heights with mezzo-soprano Maria Warenberg during A Night at the Opera. This homegrown, Dutch operatic talent performed delightful arias from eighteenth-century masters Haydn's Scena di Berenice and Rossini's Una voce poco fa from "Il barbiere di Siviglia. Two symphonies completed the evening: Haydn's experimental La Passione and Mozart's 39th symphony. The Residentie Orkest was conducted by our own regular guest conductor Richard Egarr, who also gave the world premiere of Antek Cholewinksi's One Minute Symphony: How are you .
The Friesch Dagblad thought it was "beautiful to be able to hear the Resiudentie Orkest in the North" and wrote, among other things, "What a refinement, what a balance, what beautiful horns."
Enjoy some more time with these beautiful photos, taken by Foppe Schut in Amare.
