On September 11 at the Friday , The Hague-born pianist Nikola Meeuwsen performed Prokofiev’s monumental Piano Concerto No. 2 together with the Residentie Orkest — a combination of breathtaking virtuosity and remarkable sensitivity. It was his first time back on stage with the orchestra since his victory at the Queen Elisabeth Competition. A nearly sold-out Concert Hall enjoyed Max van Platen’s new composition *Opmaat* , the fiery Prokofiev, and Elgar’s world-famous *Enigma Variations*. The Residentie Orkest was conducted by Andrew Grams.
