Side by Side
RO meets KC

Twice a year, the Residentie Orkest gives 25 master's students from the Royal Conservatory of Music the opportunity to play in a major orchestral production in the Side by Side project. The first project was the collaboration in Strauss' Alpine Symphony.
This collaboration offers students a unique learning experience where they have the opportunity to play alongside professional musicians and gain valuable hands-on experience. For the students, this means not only a deepening of their musical skills, but also an important step in their professional development. The project promotes the exchange of knowledge and inspiration between members of the Residentie Orkest and the new generation of musicians, resulting in an enriching experience for both parties. According to one of the students, it is very inspiring. "I can't even describe the experience it brings us!"

"Especially the part where I have to play the wind machine. That's super fun to do. And especially with an instrument you don't play every day"
