One Minute Symphony from

Henryk Golden

In the One Minute Symphony project, composition students from the Royal Conservatoire The Hague take to the streets to make contact with a resident of The Hague or are inspired by a location or a work of art somewhere in the city. The students write a one-minute symphony about this encounter, which is played by us a short time later. A personal story transformed into music. That is only possible at Residentie Orkest.

"I have traveled a similar journey to Frederick V."

- Henryk Golden

Composition student Henryk Golden looked for inspiration in the life of Frederick V, King of Bohemia. The Winter King lived in The Hague in the Oldenbarnevelthuis in the 17th century. Together with emeritus professor Simon Groenveld, Henryk viewed a painting in the Mauritshuis depicting Frederick V and visited Frederick V's former residence. Meanwhile, Mr. Groenveld told Henryk all about the Winter King and his life in The Hague.

The premiere of Henryk's One Minute Symphony will be heard on Magic Night, Friday, Dec. 17 at 7 p.m. & 9 p.m. at Amare.
