Relax and unwind on Sunday morning
Sunday morning "
" concert:
"
" exhibition
This concert is part of the Sunday Morning series.
A Sunday morning awaits you that begins with a gentle flutter and ends with grand, sweeping strokes. Jun Märkl—himself an avid birdwatcher—conducts a program full of air and space. First, the quiet poetry of Ravel’s serene bird miniature and the skyward flight of Vaughan Williams’ *The Lark Ascending*, featuring the refined Tobias Feldmann as the soloist. Then a dynamic finale: Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition in the rich orchestration of, once again, Ravel.
Birds, imagination, and colorful orchestral playing form the theme of this Sunday Morning Concert. Märkl opens with Ravel’s dreamy Oiseaux tristes, a quiet observation from the forest. Next, Vaughan Williams’ lark takes flight: a lyrical ode to light, nature, and freedom. An ideal repertoire for Feldmann’s warm, transparent tone. The journey then leads to the Concert Hall a gallery, where Mussorgsky’s musical paintings breathe, move, and surprise. From rippling miniatures to powerful blocks of sound: a theatrical stroll full of character and color.
