A magnificent finale
Tchaikovsky’s
Pathétique
This concert is part of the series Symphonic Friday - Small - €29 for ages 29 and under.
This is music that feels like a story demanding to be told. Anastasia Kobekina makes her debut at Amare, bringing Dvořák’s Cello Concerto to life with warmth, grace and passion. Kerem Hasan then leads us into Tchaikovsky’s Pathétique, a symphony that moves slowly from longing to stillness.
The common thread running through this programme is emotion in motion. Dvořák wrote his Cello Concerto while overwhelmed by homesickness in New York; Slavic colours, lyrical lines and gentle melancholy come together in a grand, deeply felt work. Meanwhile, Tchaikovsky’s Pathétique sounds like an inner confession laid bare: impulsive, vulnerable, at times desperate, then tender again, until you are left in breathless silence by the end. Together, they form an evening that feels like a novel in two parts.
