Guitar icon Steve Vai has been pushing the boundaries of his instrument throughout his entire career. But in addition to being a virtuoso guitarist, he is increasingly making a name for himself as a composer. On his birthday— Sunday , June 6, 2027—the legendary guitarist Steve Vai will take the stage at Amare for a special collaboration with the Residentie Orkest. During this symphonic celebration, you’ll hear orchestral works by Vai, including two world premieres.

Under the direction of Jukka Iisakkila, the performance features music that blends Vai’s unmistakable musical language with the full power of a symphony orchestra. Among other pieces, the Residentie Orkest will perform the world premiere of *Pink & Blows Over, Parts 1 & 2* and a new version of *The Middle of Everywhere*. Afterward, Vai will join the orchestra as a soloist in *The Still Small Voice*.

The highlight of the evening is the world premiere of a new large-scale symphonic work for electric guitar and orchestra. A composition in which everything comes together: Vai’s virtuosity, his imagination as a composer, and the soundscape of a symphony orchestra. A milestone in Vai’s development as a contemporary American composer and a unique collaboration between one of the greatest guitar icons of his generation and the Residentie Orkest.
