Painting with orchestral colors
's Paintings Exhibition
This concert is part of the Symphonic Friday - Large series.
We celebrate Beethoven and the power of music to inspire the imagination. Violinist Tobias Feldmann returns to the Residentie Orkest bring Beethoven’s only violin concerto to life with nuance, passion, and elegance. Principal Conductor Jun Märkl leads the orchestra through the rich, shadowy world of Mussorgsky. Two works that, each in their own way, explore the boundary between introspection and explosion.
This program highlights how music tells stories without a single word. Beethoven’s Violin Concerto opens with poetry and refined dramatic arcs: clear, open, and exciting. Feldmann’s playing accentuates both the fragile and the fierce. Then Ravel’s colorful orchestration of Mussorgsky’s Pictures at an Exhibition unfolds like a museum brimming with emotions: grotesque figures, fleeting moments, festive sounds; each “museum hall” shifts your perspective. Märkl demonstrates how imagery and music merge, culminating in a finale that takes you through a range of powerful emotions.
