Residentie Orkest Haarlem
At the Philharmonie
Beethoven’sViolin Concertois one of the most beloved works in the violin repertoire. It is not a virtuoso spectacle for the sake of virtuosity itself, but a musical landscape full of lyricism, elegance, and subtle tension. In the hands of violinist Tobias Feldmann, a dialogue unfolds between the soloist and the orchestra that sounds both intimate and grand.
After that, the Concert Hall transforms Concert Hall a musical gallery. Mussorgsky originally composed*Pictures at an Exhibition*for piano, but Maurice Ravel later gave the work its famous orchestral colors. In this rich arrangement, you’ll wander through a series of soundscapes: whimsical figures, moments of stillness, and monumental scenes. Under the baton of principal conductor Jun Märkl, the orchestra demonstrates how music can evoke images just as vivid as those in a painting. An evening where imagination and symphonic splendor come together.
