Celebrating traditions and new beginnings
Prinsjesdag Concert
This concert is part of the Violin in the Spotlight series.
The Residentie Orkest traditionally opens the new season with its festive Prinsjesdag Concert. This year, we're adding a touch of French flair and irresistible musical charm. Violinist Noa Wildschut, one of the Netherlands' most beloved soloists, dazzles in Saint-Saëns' sparkling Third Violin Concerto – a bright, warm start to a new musical season, with a playful nod to French opera.
This year's Prinsjesdag Concert is all about colour, character and theatrical tension. Saint-Saëns blends virtuosic brilliance with French elegance, perfectly suited to Wildschut's warm tone and expressive presence. Next, we enter the world of Bizet's Carmen through Bizet's magnificent orchestral suites, featuring sizzling dance, drama and the unmistakable Toreador melody. Guest conductor Andrew Grams brings it all vividly to life, with just the right sense of drama… A perfect way to celebrate this national holiday in The Hague.
