From waltz to wonderland
New Year's Concert
This concert is part of the Holidays series.
The year kicks off in full color with a program that shines, warms the heart, and lifts the audience’s spirits. The young Cuban conductor Cosette Justo Valdés makes her debut with the Residentie Orkest, while Ukrainian pianist Anna Fedorova—renowned for her profound expression—takes you on a journey through Rachmaninoff’s irresistible Rhapsody. Festive elegance, theatrical romance, and a generous dash of Italian zest make this the perfect start to 2027.
This New Year’s program journeys from the dazzling Viennese glitter of Lehár’s Gold und Silber to the sizzling virtuosity of Rachmaninoff. Then Tchaikovsky’s world unfolds: the colorful Capriccio Italien, full of southern melodies and theatrical gestures, and the magical suite from The Sleeping Beauty, where his masterful orchestration truly shines. A passionate celebration of music that dares to sound grand, remains playful, and offers depth at the same time.
