His most famous work
Mozart's Requiem
This concert is part of the series The Big Three - €29 for ages 29 and under.
Around Mozart’s birthday, the Residentie Orkest will perform a work that captures the essence of his oeuvre: the sublime Requiem, one of his most profound and enigmatic compositions. With a young, international cast and the Laurenscantorij choir, conductor Richard Egarr brings this musical monument to life. Artist-in-residence Stefan Jackiw performs the graceful Violin Concerto No. 3, one of Mozart’s most beloved and dazzling concertos for violin and orchestra, offering light and brilliance alongside the Requiem's depth.
This programme plays with contrasts. Mozart’s youthful elegance against the shadow that surrounded his final days; Mozart pared down to the essence, yet full of humanity. His Requiem was an unfinished masterpiece, completed by his friend and pupil Süssmayr. Fadael’s new work, premiering today, serves as a contemporary prologue – an echo of a changing world.
