His most famous work
Mozart's Requiem
This concert is part of the series The Big Three - €29 for ages 29 and under.
Around the time of Mozart’s birthday, music that reveals the essence of his oeuvre will be performed: the heavenly Requiem, one of his most deeply felt and enigmatic works. With an international, young cast and the Laurens Collegium, conductor Richard Egarr brings this musical monument to life. Artist in residence Stefan Jackiw performs the graceful Third Violin Concerto, one of Mozart’s most beloved and sparkling concertos for violin and orchestra, which offers light and clarity in contrast to the depth of the Requiem.
This program plays with contrasts. Mozart’s youthful elegance stands in contrast to the shadow that enveloped his Last . Mozart stripped of frills, yet full of humanity. His Requiem was an incomplete legacy, which his friend and pupil Süssmayr completed for him. Fadael’s new work, which premieres today, serves as a prologue for our times, an echo of a changing world.
