Brilliant horn playing and classical masterpieces
Mozart's Jupiter
This concert is part of the Symphonic Friday - Large series.
Horn virtuoso Felix Klieser, who was born without arms, proves that talent and determination know no bounds. Playing the instrument with his feet, he honours both Mozart and Strauss with remarkable colour, nuance and power. Under the baton of regular guest conductor Richard Egarr, tonight's programme radiates pure elegance and bravura. An unforgettable concert experience.
Today, the horn takes centre stage in all its versatility: from lyrical charm to heroic might. Klieser opens with Mozart’s sparkling Fourth Horn Concerto, elegant and playful, before the orchestra paints Respighi’s richly textured Gli uccelli in vivid, bird-like colours. The horn then shines in Strauss’s First Horn Concerto, brimming with youthful energy, virtuosic flair and warmth. The evening concludes with Mozart’s majestic Jupiter Symphony, a masterpiece of brilliant counterpoint and uplifting grandeur. A journey through sound, contrast and classical magnificence.
