An evening of horn brilliance and classics
Mozart's Jupiter
This concert is part of the Symphonic Friday - Large series.
Horn virtuoso Felix Klieser—born without arms—proves that perseverance and talent transcend all obstacles. He plays the instrument with his feet, paying tribute to both Mozart and Strauss with impressive color, nuance, and power. Under the baton of regular guest conductor Richard Egarr, the program radiates pure elegance and bravura. A concert you won’t soon forget.
The versatility of the horn takes center stage today: from lyrical charm to heroic power. Klieser opens with Mozart’s sparkling Fourth Horn Concerto, elegant and playful, after which the orchestra paints Respighi’s rich-sounding Gli uccelli in bird-like colors. Then the horn blossoms in Strauss’s First Horn Concerto, a work full of youthful energy, virtuosity, and warmth. Finally, the hall fills with Mozart’s majestic Jupiter Symphony, a masterpiece brimming with brilliant counterpoint and heavenly exaltation. A journey through sound, contrast, and classical grandeur.
