Cellist Sheku Kanneh-Mason makes his debut
Haydn & Mendelssohn
This concert is part of the Symphonic Friday - Medium series.
Sheku Kanneh-Mason, one of the most talked-about young cellists today, makes his debut with the Residentie Orkest. His warm tone and thoughtful playing have struck a chord worldwide, from Harry and Meghan’s royal wedding to major concert halls. Together with conductor Jonathan Bloxham and a brand-new Dutch composition, the Residentie Orkest presents a fresh, versatile and deeply engaging programme.
A new beginning, an open perspective, and progressive music. The evening opens with a world premiere by the young composer Amarante Nat. Kanneh-Mason then performs Haydn’s Cello Concerto in D, full of refinement, clarity and playful adventure – the perfect canvas for his lyrical tone. The programme concludes with a dazzling finale: Mendelssohn’s Italian Symphony , featuring sunny rhythms and an unmistakable sense of lightness.
