A Christmas classic full of celebration and tradition
Handel's Messiah
The tradition continues: every year, we select one of The Hague’s exceptional amateur choirs to perform Handel’s Messiah for Christmas . This year, the performance features the Residentie Bach Choir of The Hague, top-class young soloists, and conductor Chloe Rooke. Together, they bring the iconic oratorio Messiah to life, with its choral music, arias, and the world-famous “Hallelujah” chorus.
Messiah is a journey through faith, hope, and redemption. Handel therefore chose not characters but verses from the Bible, shaping them into three parts: birth, death, eternal praise, and resurrection. The alternation of powerful choral pieces and intimate solo moments creates a rich soundscape that touches everyone, both listeners and musicians alike. An ode to hope and human connection in these Last of the year.
