Theater De Veste, Delft
Sunday Morning Concert
Mozart's Piano Quintet from 1784 is one of his most remarkable and beautiful works for wind instruments and piano. He himself considered it one of his best compositions.
Whereas his contemporaries preferred to avoid this combination, he created a work for oboe, clarinet, bassoon, horn, and piano that was unique at the time. It was not until the beginning of the 20th century that other renowned composers successfully ventured into this challenging combination of instruments, including Poulenc, who is featured in the program with two works. Five musicians from the Residentie Orkest this beautiful, varied program especially for Theater de Veste.
