With several orchestras, he has recorded relatively unknown gems by this French composer, including with the Residentie Orkest. Award-winning violinist Bomsori Kim also chooses Saint-Saëns. On her first solo albumViolin on Stagewith Deutsche Grammophon, she already impressed withIntroduction et rondo capriccioso, a challenging showpiece Saint-Saëns wrote especially for the legendary violinist Pablo de Sarasate. As on that CD, Kim also plays Wieniawski's voluminousFantaisie brillante tonight, an alternately virtuosic and lyrical piece with a dizzying finale based on familiar themes from Gounod'sFaust.
