RO NOW
Le Sacre du printemps
You will hear more and experience more during RO NOW, in which we immerse you briefly and powerfully in the most beautiful symphonic music. Presenter Christiaan Kuyvenhoven, together with the orchestra, will give you stimulating examples and explanations beforehand. This will give you an insight into the special compositions we play. The concert itself? Music that surprises, moves, and stays with you. After the concert, be sure to linger in the foyer, where live music, a drink on the house, and a cozy atmosphere will round off the evening.
Le Sacre du printemps, written for the Ballets Russes, is undoubtedly Igor Stravinsky's most famous composition—not Last because the premiere of this ballet is known as the biggest scandal in classical music history. With a large orchestra, we will bring this revolutionary, rhythmic composition to life on stage. You have to experience it live. And also a world premiere of Piano Concerto No. 3 by Willem Jeths, avant-gardist and storyteller from our own country. His compositions are rich in contrasts and sometimes contain unexpected, almost surreal elements. A perfect combination and a real treat for your weekend.
Willem Jeths
Willem Jeths himself wrote about his new work: "My third piano concerto, which I wrote for the wonderful pianist Ellen Corver, whom I have known for almost forty years, has been given the subtitleScorching Passions . Each of the three movements focuses on a different facet of human passion. The first movement focuses on the love of the irreconcilable, the 'steep', the ruthless. The second movement is the complete opposite, focusing on adoration and falling for dazzling beauty. In the third movement, we experience 'true love', but one that becomes fatal, so much so that death follows."
Willem Jeths' Piano Concerto No. 3 was made possible in part by Performing Arts Fund NL.
In collaboration with Festival Dag in de Branding.
