RO NOW
Le Sacre du printemps
You’ll hear more and experience more during RO NOW, where we’ll briefly but powerfully immerse you in the most beautiful symphonic music. Before the concert, host Christiaan Kuyvenhoven and the orchestra will provide engaging examples and explanations, giving you a glimpse into the extraordinary compositions we’ll be performing. The concert itself? Music that surprises, moves, and stays with you. Be sure to stick around in the foyer after the show, where live music, a complimentary drink, and a cozy atmosphere will round out the evening.
Art that can lead to riots
*The Rite of Spring*, written for the Ballets Russes, is undoubtedly Igor Stravinsky’s most famous composition—not Last because the premiere of this ballet is known as the biggest scandal in classical music history. With a full orchestra, we’ll bring this revolutionary, rhythmic composition to life on stage. You have to experience this live. Plus, a world premiere of Piano Concerto No. 3 by Willem Jeths, a homegrown avant-gardist and storyteller. His compositions are rich in contrasts and sometimes contain unexpected, almost surreal elements. A perfect combination and a true treat for your weekend.
Willem Jeths
Willem Jeths himself wrote about his new work: "My third piano concerto, which I wrote for the wonderful pianist Ellen Corver—whom I have known for nearly forty years—has been given the subtitle*Scorching Passions *. Each of the three movements focuses on a different facet of human passion. In the first movement, the love for the irreconcilable, the ‘steep,’ the ruthless. The second movement is the complete opposite; here, adoration and falling for dazzling beauty take center stage. In the third movement, we experience ‘true love,’ but one that becomes fatal, so much so that death follows.”
Willem Jeths’ Piano Concerto No. 3 was made possible in part by Performing Arts Fund NL.
This concert is presented in collaboration with Festival Dag in de Branding.

Y.O.P.E.
An unpredictable groove after *TheRite of Spring*
Following the primal energy of*Le Sacre du Printemps*, the eveningcontinuesin Foyer 2 with anAfter Concert byY.O.P.E.
Just as Igor Stravinsky transformed the orchestra into a pulsating ritual in 1913, Y.O.P.E. operates within that same dynamic today. As bassist and bandleader, The Hague-based Joop de Graaf does not take center stage, but serves as the mastermind behind a collective that moves as one.
Y.O.P.E. is built on a foundation of groove-based beat music. The elements Joop incorporates into this foundation draw from his affinity for futuristic, electronic, and experimental jazz music. It’s a sound that will also take them tothe North Sea Jazz Festivalthis summer.
Just as with *TheRite of Spring*, the powerliesnot in control, but in surrender: themes appear, disappear, and what happens in between arises in the moment.
If you stick around for a relaxing finale, you’re in for a treat: this isn’t just background music, but an experience that demands your attention—and gives you plenty of energy in return!
Want to relax with a drink after the event? You can do that upstairs in Foyer 3.
