Sunday Morning
Kabalevsky & Dvořák
This concert is part of the Sunday Morning series.
Sunday morning music for your soul
Experience the magic of Sunday mornings with the Residentie Orkest. Take a moment to relax, unwind and enjoy soul-stirring symphonies. On this morning, you will feel the sun on your face as you're transported from the Bohemian countryside to an elegant ball with singing violins and booming timpani. The cello will add its graceful charm to the mix, flirting with orchestra and audience alike.
Our former artist in residence (2018-2019), star cellist Kian Soltani, will further stir the imagination with his rendition of Dmitri Kabalevsky's virtuosic Second Cello Concerto No. 2. This remarkable work in the neoclassical Soviet style portrays the cello as a brave protagonist navigating a series of challenges, alternately supported and contradicted by the orchestra. You can sense the adrenaline, determination and excitement of adventure. Returning conductor Valentina Peleggi will draw on influences from folk music, but bring her own characteristic drive and expression to The Hague.
Musical workshop for children
Tip! During the concert, children aged 4 to 12 can attend a musical workshop for €4 per child. Please book tickets in advance here. The workshop will be in Dutch.
