Sunday morning music for the soul
Discover at the Residentie Orkest the magic of Sunday morning: a time to escape, relax and enjoy mind-blowing symphonies. This morning, with the sun on your face, travel from the Bohemian countryside to a merry ball, where the violins jubilate and the timpani thump. The cello throws its dashing charm into the fray, with a defiant wink to orchestra and listener alike.
Our former artist in residence (2018-2019), star cellist Kian Soltani, conjures up even more imagination with his performance of Dmitri Kabalevsky's virtuosic Second cello concerto. This unique piece, rooted in the neoclassical Soviet tradition, shows the cello as a brave protagonist, navigating through a series of challenges, sometimes supported, sometimes contradicted by the orchestra. You feel the adrenaline, the fighting spirit and the excitement of adventure. All of this is under the able direction of one of our favorite guest conductors: Michal Nesterowicz.

Hello Cello Day
The Cello Biennale and several local partners organize the Hello Cello Dagen in four cities: a musical mini-festival for the whole family with master classes, a children's performance, workshops, try-out lessons and instrument builders. Highlight of the Hello Cello Day is the performance of the Hello Cello Orchestra with young cellists from the region.
Hello Cello Day is an initiative of the Cello Biennale in cooperation with Amare, the Residentie Orkest and Royal Conservatory.
