Sunday Morning
Beethoven's Symphony No. 5
Sunday morning music for the soul
At Residentie Orkest , discover the magic of Sunday morning: a time to escape and enjoy inspiring symphonies. This morning we make grand and compelling with Beethoven's most famous work: the Fifth Symphony. Fate knocks hard on the door in the famous opening notes, then the piece takes you away, challenges you, conquers you in a powerful interplay.
We open the morning with another powerful and contrasting piece: Robert Schumann's Piano Concerto . For this, the superb soloist Javier Perianes takes his place behind the grand piano. Schumann's melodic grandeur melds a sparkling piano performance with lush orchestral sounds in a true celebration of high-romantic passion. A fine combination for Beethoven's colossal symphony. Both are performed under the direction of principal conductor Anja Bihlmaier.
